CID Actor Dinesh Phadnis passed away on December 5 at 12:08 am in Mumbai’s Tunga Hospital at the age of 57 years. He was suffering from multiple organ failures.
He was popularly known for his role of Fredericks in the TV Series CID . His co-star Dayanand Shetty confirmed the news.
On Friday, Dinesh Phadnis was hospitalised and his last rites will be performed at Daulat Nagar Crematorium, Borivali East.
He told in an interview about how he landed the role, “I remember I was s struggling for roles and wherever I went to seek work, I met BP Singh (producer of CID). I am not aware if he was sheer luck or coincidence. Finally, he asked me if I wanted to join CID and that’s how my journey began . Later I also took up Aahat”. “The show earlier had no humor at all. So I was chosen to be the comic relief. And I must say that I have received great response from the masses.”
Actor Aditya Srivastava who portrayed the role of Inspector Abhijeet on the show confirmed, “We know that he had liver issues and it had an impact on the other organs. He was really unwell for two – three days. He couldn’t survive.”
It was reported that the actor suffered a cardiac arrest on Sunday, following which he was admitted to the hospital. Later it was confirmedby his co-star Shetty that it was not cardiac arrest but a liver damage. The entire cast of the show CID is currently at his residence.
The actor had also made an appearance on the popular show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and played supporting roles in movies like Super 30 and Sarfarosh. He is survived by his wife Nayana and a daughter Tanu.
